For the past 35 years Fella Hamilton has been an icon of the North Balwyn Village shopping strip.
On Tuesday 22 August Fella Hamilton is hosting a special celebration day to mark 35 years the fashion label has been dressing the ladies of Balwyn, North Balwyn and surrounds. Pop into the store at 10am.
Fella Hamilton is an iconic Australian fashion label that began in 1969 when the entrepreneurial and fashion-loving Fella Hamilton created the comfortable and chic terry-towelling look. She made headlines everywhere with the new look terry-towelling styles which were sold in Georges and Myer.
Fast forward almost two decades and in 1988, the North Balwyn Village store was the second Fella Hamilton store opened by Fella Hamilton herself, accompanied by her son David and daughter Ann who were also working in the business.
The first Fella Hamilton fashion store opened in 1987 in Hawthorn.
Over the more than five decades of keeping women stylish and comfortable, the Fella Hamilton fashion label is synonymous with more than cutting edge style to take women from home life, to social outings to glamorous events – the fashion label is committed to empowering women to retain their sense of style and confidence at any age. It’s also a truly Australian label and remains true to its roots today as it did in 1969 when it started creating and manufacturing in Australia.
Today the Fella Hamilton business is owned and run by Fella’s son David and wife Sharon who have stayed true to Fella’s vision while expanding the family business.
In 35 years on the retail side of the fashion label, the business has continued to grow its strength as a brand and retained a loyal customer base as women mature.
The brand has grown to 34 stores Australia-wide, with 14 stores located in Victoria and the mail order and online business continues to go from strength to strength dressing women across the length and breadth of Australia.
The Fella Hamilton brand connects with mature women who are seeking comfort without sacrificing style. As women’s body change as they get older, it can be difficult to find a brand that truly recognises this change and keeps women looking good and feeling stylish forever, but Fella Hamilton has achieved this and recognised for this ability to morph women through their various ages with style and glamour.
